Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell was TV personality and former chef in the Institute of Culinary Education and she was formerly an instructor of cooking. She hosts her own Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell's Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant chef is a hit with her signature hairstyle and her pumped up personality, explains simple techniques that anybody can learn. Chef Burrell has worked in some of the top eateries in New York, studied the food culture and culinary traditions of Italy, and battled in Food Network's Iron Chef America. Burrell, who grew up in New York State's Upstate, began to develop a passion for cooking. The Culinary Institute of America has sparked her interest in restaurant management after she earned the English and Communications degree from Canisius College Buffalo NY. I enjoyed every moment that I was a student of The Culinary Institute of America she declares. I was unable to learn enough, didn't accomplish enough, and I couldn't put in the effort enough. Following graduation, Chef Burrell went on to spend one period of time in Italy attending an Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners as well as working for La Taverna del Lupo in Umbria and La Bottega del 30 a one-Michelin-starred restaurant in Tuscany. When she was in Italy the chef developed an appreciation for and knowledge of Italian culinary traditions. This had an enormous influence on her perception of food. Burrell is a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board that helps brighten the lives of struggling children. She also is a Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation celebrity advocate in which she promotes awareness of young diabetics. In her capacity as a speaker, Burrell travels across the nation to talk about her love of food as well as her career in the culinary field. Anne said she felt lucky in that she could communicate her love of cooking to the people around her.
