Mena Alexandra Suvari Bio

Mena Alexandra Suvari (born February 13, 1979) is an American actress, fashion designer, and model. When she began her modeling career, she quickly transitioned to acting. She played guest roles on television shows Boy Meets World (90s) and High Incident (90s). In 1997, she made her film debut in the dramatic Nowhere. She made the move to important roles thanks to her performance in American Beauty, for which she was nominated for an BAFTA Award, and American Pie and American Pie, which both earned her wider attention. She has also appeared in Loser (2000) along with Jason Biggs, her American Pie co-star. In the following years, she was the main character in Sugar & Spice (2001). She had appearances in the independent drama Spun as well as the 2004 thriller feature Trauma. Also, she appeared on drama series on HBO Six Feet Under in 2004 and was nominated for the Outstanding Cast at the 2005 Screen Actors Guild Awards. Suvari was also featured in Day of the Dead, The Mysteries of Pittsburgh and the film adaptation of The Garden of Eden. Suvari is an actress for Lancome cosmetics and advertisements in print for Lancome Paris Adaptive, and has been featured in several fashion blogs and magazines such as Vogue. Suvari is an activist and a long-time supporter of the prestigious African relief group, The African Medical and Research Foundation. She is active in the issue of female empowerment and is involved with charities that are based on breast cancer, as well as the "End Violence against Women Campaign".
